The largest and heaviest silver bowl ever issued by the Franklin Mint, this bowl is an original work of art created for the Bicentennial celebration in 1976. It is crafted from over 170 troy oz of sterling silver and lined with 24kt gold. The sculptures around the Bowl show vignettes of 200 years of American history.  The sculpted frieze running around the rim, depicting scenes starting at the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Other scenes include George Washington, Mayflower, Abraham Lincoln, Western settlers, Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, civil war, Model T Ford, flapper, crossing of continent by rail, age of invention, moon landing, Statue of Liberty Limited Edition of 750, this bowl is numbered 642.  The first bowl, numbered 1, was presented to President Gerald Ford, July 4th 1776. Salver Stands On 3 Feet. Salver weighs 550 grams. 10.25″ diameter Dorothy Mills manufactured under 2 names between the period 1746 to 1754. Dorothy Mills from her first husband Hugh Mills, and under the name Dorthy Sarbitt after her 2nd husband Thomas Sarbitt. No record of her hallmark is known past 1754, indicating that she may have closed the business down in that year. Works by Dorothy are owned by the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and also the Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens.
