Antique English Sterling Silver Melon Shape Tea Set. Barnards. 1836. Crested
A very good quality, antique English, sterling silver 4 piece tea & coffee service in the Melon pattern. Made by the renowned Barnards family of silversmiths – Edward, Edward Junior, John & William Barnard.
The hand hammered melon bodies, with cast handles, spouts & finials, stand on cast feet. Each piece with a hand engraved crest of a dove on one side. Excellent quality, style, condition & maker.
Each is hallmarked with the Barnards makers mark, and the London date letter “A” for 1836, William IV.
Coffee pot is the tallest piece at 9.5″ high.
Tea pot stands at 6.5″.
Sugar stands at 5.5″
Creamer stands at 6.5″
Total weight of all the 4 pieces is 2586 grams = 83.15 troy oz = 91.25 regular ounces.
