English sterling silver hallmarked, round footed tray / salver. Made by George Howson (Harrison Brothers & Howson), 1936 (Edward VIII / George IV). The tray measures 12.125″ / 30.80 cm. A handsome Sterling silver pair of George I style three-light English hallmarked candelabra, having plain round baluster bodies, fixed arms with drip pans, and central finial that can be removed to uncover the third candle holder.  Made by Richard Comyns, London in 1954.  Dimensions of this fine hand-made pair of silver candelabra are height 8″, maximum width 9.25″. The pair weigh a total of 850 grams = 27.35 troy oz  = 30 regular ounces. Please note that these candelabra are not weighted or filled, they are just sterling silver, including the original, central, removable finials.

Buccellati, Sterling Silver, Oval, Hand Hammered Two-Handled Tray. 20th Century. Milan Italy. Tray measures 24.50″ x 17″ Weighs 2470 grams = 79.35 troy oz = 87 regular ounces. The tray is in good used condition and has some wear scratches from use. Signed on the underside with the Buccellati Sterling marks.

An extremely good set of four cast silver George II  candlesticks. Marked to the underside for London 1749 by William Gould. Also marked to each capital. The bases are engraved with a crest of a raised fist holding a five-pointed star. The underside of each stick also carries the original scratch weight. These are an extremely unusual set of candlesticks in a very attractive and highly unusual pattern. They are in original unrestored condition with only very minor wear to the high points. The marks are clear although the marks to the capitals are slightly worn. Exceptionally good weight of and very robust gauge silver. William Gould was a specialist candlestick maker and these are a wonderful example of his highly skilled silversmithing. Each slightly flaring rectangular handle with an up-turned squared terminal.  Set comprising:  12 dinner knives 10″ (Stainless Blades) 12 dessert/salad knives 8.25″ (Stainless Blades)  12 fish knives 8.25″ 11 pastry/hors d’oeuvre knives 7″ (Stainless Blades) 11 teaspoons 5.4″ 12 tablespoons 8.35″ 12 dessert spoons 7.35″ 11 iced teaspoons/sundae spoons 7.5″ 12 ice cream spoons 5.35″ 12 coffee spoons 4.5″ 12 dinner forks 8″ 11 pastry forks 6″ 12 salad/dessert 7″ forks  12 hors d’oeuvre forks 5.75″ 12 fish forks 7 1/8″ 12 knife rests 3.25″ All applied with a stylized initial ‘N’. (It could also be a Chet or a Tuff in Hebrew letters) Total weighable silver approximately 250 troy oz = 7,775 gams = 274 regular ounces PLUS you have 36 knives with sterling handles and stainless blades which are not weighed. Total 188 pieces. 

Antique English, sterling silver, two-handled, large oval footed tray. The tray with a bright cut hand engraved decoration, with a fine bead rim. The border with a heavy cast bead and cast handles to match. Quality & condition are superb. Made by the silversmith William Gallimore & Sons and dated 1899. Hallmarked on the front of the tray. Tray measures 31.75″ x 20.50″ Weighs approx 5,200 grams = 167.15 troy oz = 183.42 regular ounces. No monograms, inscriptions, or erasures. The tray is in near excellent condition.

The Heavy Cast Border Decorated With Male & Female Figures In Poses Of Hunting, Feeding, Relaxation, Passion, etc. A Variety Of Animals Consisting Of Eagle, Dog, Wild Boar, Horse, Lion, etc. All Within Floral & Scroll Decoration. The Salver Standing On 4 Similar Style Cast Feet. The Surface Of The Tray With Beautiful Hand Engraved Scroll Decoration, Centered By An Armorial Above The Latin Motto Praesto Et Persto (To Be Responsible For or To Answer For) The Tray Is 25″ In Diameter And Has A Maximum Height Of Approximately 2.5″ To Give You An Idea Of The Quality It Weighs Over 5 Kilo = Just Over 11 lbs. The Silver Is In Very Good Clean Condition, No Wear, Damage, Or Repairs. Marked On The Rear Of The Tray With The Elkington, Mason & Co Mark And The Date Letter ‘O’ For 1853. ELKINGTON: Founded by George Richards Elkington and his brother, Henry Elkington, in the 1830s. It operated under the name G. R. Elkington & Co. until 1842, when a third partner, Josiah Mason, joined the firm. It was around this time that they purchased the patent for electroplating (silver plating) and their business flourished greatly from their newfound skills. The company operated as Elkington, Mason & Co. until 1861 when the partnership with Mason was terminated. The firm operated independently as Elkington & Co. from 1861 until 1963. It was then taken over by British Silverware Ltd. In 1971 British Silverware, Ltd. became a subsidiary of Delta Metal Co. Ltd. To My Knowledge, It No Longer Exists. Over the course of its 130-year history it became very successful and was one of the prime producers of sterling & silver plated wares. Elkington received various royal warrants of appointments, and also an Imperial and Royal Warrant of Appointment from the emperor of Austria. One of their most famous pieces is the electrotype copy of the Jerningham Wine Cooler, at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

An elegant and fine, oval, 2 handled, sterling silver centerpiece bowl, made by William B. Durgin Company Silversmiths. The plain oval, boat-shaped bowl with a fine bright cut decoration along the rim with 2 hand-engraved wreath cartouche on either side of the bowl. The centerpiece stands on an oval pedestal foot. Measurements: 18.5″ x 7.5″ x 8.25″ High. Weight: 1200 grams = 38.70 troy oz = 42.45 regular ounces. Good clean condition, with no monograms or erasures. It just needs a quick polish. Made in 1940 by Alphonse La Paglia, these elegant sterling silver pair of 2 light candelabra are part of a collection designed by La Paglia called Spring Glory, the graceful swirls depict a stylized tulip bud known as the fleur danoise, or Danish flower, influenced by his time studying in Denmark. Candelabra are both marked on the underside “International Sterling – La Paglia Designed – 139 16 These are all silver, not weighted or filled. Approx. Measurements: 7.5″ high. 10″ wide. 4.2” diameter of foot. Weight for the pair: 1146 grams = 36.85 troy oz = 40.42 regular ounces. Alphonse La Paglia was born in Sicily in 1907, he studied silversmithing in Denmark with Georg Jensen. By the early 1940’s he had arrived in New York and was creating jewelry and silverware for Fredrick Lunning (soon to become Georg Jensen USA Inc). By 1952 La Paglia is well established as a modernist designer of silver & jewelry, and with Kurt Eric Christofferson formed The International Sterling Crafts Associates.
